Hunter House in Obornak
The hunter house of the Forestry Company in Nagykanizsa is situated in a small village of Zala County, in Obornak. The current shape of the building was made within the framework of the monumental hunter house reconstruction programme of Zalaerdő in 1997. The two-storey-house provides high-quality and comfortable accommodation for 12 people. 20 people can take a seat comfortably in the dining-room and in the council-room; both rooms can be expanded to seat maximum of 30 people. There is a sitting room right next to the council-room where you can talk about your daily hunting experiences.
The neighbouring area of the house has been landscaped, and an exota-planting experiment has been in progress on 21 hectares since 1987; in addition several coniferous tree-species have been planted here, for instance: larch-trees, arborvitaes trees, Douglas firs and spruces. You can have a spectacular view onto a part of these trees from the hunter house and you can take a pleasant trip on the middle-aged pine-tree-plantation. You can attend the lookout tower in the exota-plantation during your walk and from the top of it you can have a magnificent view of the surrounding beech-woods.
