Snail-tour training path (Zalakaros)
In our hectic and rushing world everyone needs some calm hours, some slow walks, and some family trips. These occasions will fill up our souls with energy, and will give us some strength on our dull weekdays. With the help of the Snail-tour training path in Zalakaros we would like to give the opportunity to everyone to slow down and to look around. The beautiful walking path across the forest would be the right place to do so. While we move in the fresh air, we can observe how seasons change and we can get richer of useful knowledge reading the boards there.
The training path is situated in the western direction from Zalakaros and in the south-eastern direction from Zalamerenye, on the area of Zalakaros Forest Park; it is 1152 metres, and using the interactive boards we can get to know the protective and economic role of the forest, its tasks for public welfare, mushrooms and forest animals in the Zalakaros Forest Park; using “loud” boards we can listen to the songs of certain bird species. As for the new features of the training path we can see there relaxing wave-benches designed uniquely, interactive benches, turning cubes and arched seats.
When designing and implementing the training path we found a solution which can make it possible that the use of the facility for its intended purposes, and its construction works should influence the forest habitat and the forest community, furthermore, the renewing ability of the tree population just to a lesser extent.
The sights of the neighbourhood
Zalakaros Forest Park is situated in the heart of the county; there are a lot of breath-taking sights and exciting leisure activities that provide you a complex possibility for taking a trip. We would like to recommend you some destinations, included, but not limited, which can be easily connected to the visit of the Snail-tour training path; they can be accessed on foot, by bicycle or even by car. Granit Cure Spa in Zalakaros is well-known and appreciated both nationally and in Europe; it is a family friendly complex that is visited by a load of people because it is modern, well-equipped and it has several programmes, either in the summer season or in other months.
There are plenty of opportunities for animal friends in the area; they can even meet special animal species for example in the Buffalo Reserve in Kápolnapuszta, in the zoo in Fenyvespuszta where you can stroke animals. You are welcome with exciting adventures and special experiences both in the Zobori Amusement Park in Zalaszabar and in the Paulaner Mill in Zalamerenye.
The countryside around Small-Balaton is highly appropriate for taking a walk, hiking and cycling – partly due to the cycle path that connects the Forest Park in Zalakaros and its surroundings. We can have a beautiful view from the lookout tower at the first board of the training path in the Forest Park; if the weather is good, we can see Small-Balaton, Badacsony and even a great part of Balaton-Highlands properly.
